"Crossroads 400" is an opportunity and an invitation to help us, with God's blessing to erect a new church building at the very heart of Craigantlet, a rural community nestling in the hills between the city of Belfast and the towns of Holywood, Newtownards and Bangor.
We believe this church will be built debt free and to date, in faith, we have laid the foundations on a site where the commuter routes between these towns converge. We have recently seen the steel structure erected, made possible through the generosity of those who share our vision. It has been humbling and exciting to see how God has moved ordinary people to gift money and materials for the stages which are visible on site and we are learning to trust Him for what remains to be done. At this point, the next stage will be to clothe the steel structure with block-work, a roof, windows and doors making the building water-tight. The completion of the programme will require a total sum of £400,000 to provide a usable building and so continue the work of God which first started on this site 100 years ago.
All those years ago, in 1912, a little hall was built on this location to house a small congregation of people who had experienced the grace of God just the previous year when He poured out His blessing during a tent mission. One hundred years later, the legacy of that revival continues to reverberate around the hills of Craigantlet and today a new building is needed to strengthen and develop God's work and ministry in the area.
The vision of Crossroads however, is not just to build another church, but to offer another chance to all who seek to know something of the grace of God and experience again his love and peace that is beyond comparison and comprehension. In a world, so damaged by the selfish ambitions of man, it's good to know that God offers us so much more than the material benefits of this life. God invests his love and peace into hearts that are broken and hurting with the pains of disappointment, distress and darkness.
We believe the world is full of people who long to know and enjoy this deeper reality and a sense of purpose and value in their lives. We want to reach out with God's love in Craigantlet and we invite you to share in our vision.
Can you help give them... another chance?
We know that God is willing and able to provide the funds he has promised. We also know that God often brings this about when individuals are moved to be part of that fulfilment through personal generosity and sacrifice.
"Crossroads 400" was originally considered as an opportunity to invite 400 individuals or groups to support the vision to build a new church right in the heart of the Craigantlet community by donating £1,000 each and in this way we could reach our target of £400,000.
We do not limit God in this approach and we know that there are those who could not afford such a commitment, equally there are others who have caught the vision to such a degree that they would wish to donate even more than £1,000. We want to be faithful to God in our stewardship, so we leave the financial support of the building fund open to your careful and prayerful interest as God leads.
Any gift, large or small is of immense benefit and greatly valued by the fellowship of Crossroads as together we build "another chance not another church"!
We want you, to share with us, in what God will do in us and through us as he builds His Church, which is not made with human hands, in Craigantlet.
Holding on to the Vision because He who promised, is Faithful.
