THE GOSPEL

 

(Genesis 1:1)

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

(Romans 3:23)

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

(1 John 1:8)

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

(Romans 6:23)

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

(Romans 5:8)

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

YOUR NEW LIFE

 

(I Peter 1:3-8)

3  Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4  and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade--kept in heaven for you,

5  who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

6  In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.

7  These have come so that your faith--of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire--may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed.

8  Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy.

(Romans 3:23)

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.

(Romans 12)

1  Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship.

2  Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

3  For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.

4  Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,

5  so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

6  We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.

7  If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach;

8  if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

9  Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

10  Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

11  Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

12  Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

13  Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

14  Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

15  Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

16  Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

17  Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.

18  If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

19  Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.

20  On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."

21  Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

(Ephesians 3:20)

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.

(Acts 1:8)

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.

17  pray continually;

18  give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

(Jer. 33:3)

'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.'

(Proverbs 3:5-6)

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

6  in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

(James 5:16)

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

(Matthew 4:4)

Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

(I Peter 2:2)

Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.

(Psalm 119:105)

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

(James 1:21-22)

21  Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

22  Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

(Romans 6:6-7)

6  For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin--

7  because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.

(Romans 8:1-2)

1  Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

2  because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.

(Romans 6:16-18)

16  Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey--whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?

17  But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted.

18  You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

(Romans 6:12-13)

12  Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.

13  Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness.

(Psalm 119:9-11)

9  How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word.

10  I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.

11  I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

(Revelation 12:10)

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: "Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.

(I John 1:6-10)

6  If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.

7  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

8  If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

10  If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.

(Philippians 1:6)

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

(I John 5:11-13)

11  And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

12  He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

13  I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

(2 Corinthians 3:18)

And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

John 15:4-8

Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

5  "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

6  If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.

7  If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.

8  This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

(John 15:5)

"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

(Philippians 4:13)

I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

(Philippians 4:19)

And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

(James 4:8)

Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

(Psalm 119:66-68)

66  Teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I believe in your commands.

67  Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word.

68  You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees.

(I John 1:6-7)

(Hebrews 10:24-25)

24  And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

25  Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

(I Corinthians 2:9-10)

9  However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him"--

10  but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

(Galatians 2:20)

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
