Who are we?
Crossroads, historically, is a church with a congregation made up of people from various denominational backgrounds, yet we are not affiliated to any particular denomination. This is not because we disagree, but rather, we find broad agreement across many aspects of our Christian faith. This allows for full and inclusive participation in all aspects of our ministry without the restraints of doctrinal differences or sensitivities. This structure is one that has grown naturally over the years and we believe is one of our strengths.
Crossroads doesn’t try to be another church but to offer through God’s grace another chance……..and who doesn’t need that? Services are relaxed and informal but each meeting will revolve around the authority of the Bible as the Word of God.
We extend to you our warmest invitation to join with us at one of our services and enjoy something of the warmth of God’s presence. It’d be good to see you!
How we were formed?
Crossroads was formed 20 years ago by our former pastor, Roy Brennan and his wife June with a mandate from the Lord to “open a place for God’s hurting people”. The emphasis of the church was and still is to bring help and comfort to those in need together with an invitation and opportunity to respond to Him whose loving purpose is to offer all of us “another chance”!
Our mission statement is summed up in the words of the Lord that are recorded in Luke 4: 17-19:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He appointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor.He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the favourable year of the Lord”
The world is full of many churches, in truth there is only one church with many vineyards. In our little corner of the world we seek to represent Him who said “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest” – Matthew 11: 28
